Weston Park Team

Samantha Dixon | Chief Executive Officer

I’ve worked in the charity sector for about twenty years, having held a range of national and local fundraising positions for organisations which include Barnardo’s, Age UK and The Prince’s Trust. I joined Weston Park Cancer Charity in September 2013 following seven years at The Prince’s Trust. The Charity is unique. So many people feel so grateful to Weston Park Hospital for the excellent care received by them or their loved ones they are keen to support us.

It is both humbling and inspiring that every day we meet so many fundraisers who will go to great lengths through extraordinary means to raise vital funds. As Charity Director I feel a great responsibility to make sure we are investing these funds as effectively as possible in projects within the Hospital and with our partners in the wider cancer network to support more families to stay together, now and in the future.

Catherine Rhone | Director

I joined the team in 2005 and never looked back! I feel very privileged to work here.

Seeing the difference the money raised makes is incredibly motivating, as is meeting our wonderful supporters. Weston Park Hospital is very well respected and I am proud to represent it.

Helen Gentle | Senior Fundraising Manager

I joined the Cancer Charity in 2010 and enjoy working as part of the fundraising team. I’m constantly amazed and humbled by the lengths our wonderful supporters go to in order to raise vital funds.

I feel privileged to be able to see first-hand the big difference their fantastic support makes to the lives of patients at the Hospital.

Darren Hayes | Business Development Manager

I first became involved with the Charity in 2007 after I was treated for testicular cancer. I started fundraising and was honoured to be asked to become a Patron. I have since been involved in many projects with the charity – and they have given me an insight into the work done at the Hospital and the money required by the charity each year to make these projects possible.

The Charity became a passion of mine over the years and I am delighted to have joined as Business Development Manager.

Gemma Noon | Community Fundraiser

I have worked as a Community Fundraiser for a number of years and joined the team at Weston Park Cancer Charity in 2016. I meet so many amazing people every day. From patients and families going through challenging times to the incredible hospital staff who go above and beyond to help make people better.

It is so inspiring seeing first-hand what people are willing to do to help make a difference (climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or jumping out of a plane for instance!) and I feel privileged that it is my job to help support these wonderful people with their fundraising.

It is the best job in the world!

Jade Hearsum | Community Fundraiser

I feel so privileged to be part of the team and to see first-hand the difference the hospital makes to people’s lives.

I am overwhelmed every single day by the generosity and commitment from the community to support our cause and I can’t thank them enough for all they do. I am so proud to represent Weston Park and to be part of a charity that is making such a difference.

Charlotte Swinhoe | Community Fundraiser

I love being part of the Charity Team; and every day I feel honoured to meet such amazing people who support Weston Park Cancer Charity. Seeing the lengths people will go to, to fundraise for us, and support us is incredibly inspiring and motivating.

I feel privileged to work for the charity, and proud of what the charity achieves – and I hope that I can help in keeping families together for longer.

Anne Price | Finance Officer

Weston Park Cancer Charity is a cause close to my heart, as my husband has been a patient at the hospital since 1998.

I joined the Charity in November 2009, and continue to be uplifted by the wonderful support it receives.

Jane Lawcock | Finance Officer

I joined the Charity as a volunteer in November 2007 and became a permanent member of staff in the admin team in February 2008.

Anita Fridlington | PA to the Charity Director

After taking early retirement from the University of Leeds where I had enjoyed my work in administration for over 20 years, I was given the opportunity to join Weston Park Cancer Charity, in a part time role, from March 2017.

This charity is very close to my heart, having family members who have fought the battle with cancer and survived. I am gaining a much better understanding of cancer research, cancer treatment and cancer care and I feel extremely privileged to be part of a team who, like me, are clearly passionate about the work of the charity and how, through various fundraising activities, this actually makes a difference to patient lives and their families.

Rachel Martin | Marketing and Communications Assistant

Weston Park Cancer Charity is full of people who are fuelled by a desire to truly make a difference. We support people of all ages and with different diagnoses, and if I can be a part of helping to make a difference to someone’s day, as well as making the lives of patients and their families living with, and beyond, cancer across our region a little easier, then it’s a job well done.

I am proud to have joined #TeamWestonPark; it keeps my feet on the ground and reminds what is important in life. Seeing how the smallest things can make the biggest difference is a lovely feeling. It doesn’t make it all better, but it does make it a little easier.

Georgia Bransby | Fundraising Assistant

I joined Weston Park Cancer Charity in Summer 2018. Working for a special place like Weston Park is such a humbling experience. The support we receive is overwhelming; people really do go above and beyond. It is a huge privilege to get to work alongside such dedicated supporters, fundraisers and colleagues.

I’m incredibly proud to work for a charity that makes such a huge difference to local people’s lives day in, day out.

Westie | Team Weston Park Mascot

I joined the Cancer Charity in July 2015 and made it my mission to spread some ‘Westie love’ among its patients and supporters.

I like to dance and my favourite hobby is to spend time with the people who are making a big difference to cancer services across our region! Look out for me at charity events or visiting the wards at Weston Park Hospital, where I’ll be spreading some Westie joy to those who need it the most!
