Atkinsons announces its Charity of the Year
The family-run department store, Atkinsons, has today unveiled that Weston Park Cancer Charity will be its official Charity of the Year.
At its core, Weston Park Cancer Charity exists to create a better life for those living with and beyond cancer. Through charitable support it is committed to fund things the NHS alone cannot provide and raises over £2million every year to fund; practical help to those in need, emotional support to those in despair and enhanced care for those who need it most.
David Cartwright, Store Manager at Atkinsons, commented “Following the success of the St Luke’s charity partnership last year, we’re pleased to be able to support another local charity this year. Weston Park Cancer Charity does great work for the people of our community, and we’re proud and pleased to announce that they are this year’s charity partner for Atkinsons.”
As part of its support, Atkinsons will work in partnership with the Cancer Charity and its team of dedicated volunteers to host a series of fundraising and awareness building activities and events.
Speaking of the new partnership, Darren Hayes, Business Development Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity added: “We are delighted that Atkinsons, and their staff, have decided to support Weston Park Cancer Charity and we look forward to working closely with the team to support their vital fundraising efforts. Alongside the fundraising in store, a number of staff have already pledged to take on a challenge so we can’t wait to hear more about their plans for the year.”
As the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, Weston Park Hospital provides care for thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.
The partnership aims to create a better life for people in our region living with and beyond cancer.
