Atkinsons put the FUN into Fundraising for Weston Park Cancer Charity

The family-run department store, Atkinsons, welcomed charity ambassador and Sheffield United Football Club’s Goalkeeper Simon Moore to kick off their festive fundraising in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity. Sheffield Wednesday also provided a signed shirt voucher to be used as a raffle prize to raise funds.

As Weston Park Cancer Charity is the chosen ‘Charity of the Year’,  the store is hosting a series of fundraising events so that people in our region can continue to access the very best cancer care services. From breakfast with santa to a chance to win a luxury hamper, festive shoppers are guaranteed to be in for a treat when visiting the store between now and Christmas – and you might even spot some of the staff in fancy dress.

David Cartwright, Store Manager at Atkinsons commented “As an independent & individual family-run department store, part of the Sheffield community for over 145 years, we recognise the importance of supporting the great work Weston Park Cancer Charity do for people in our community. We’re proud to support them.”

Darren Hayes, Business Development Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity added; “Since launching the partnership in March, staff  across the department store have already raised over £3,000 to support cancer patients locally.  Everyone involved is doing an absolutely fantastic job and it’s been great to see the whole department store getting involved with a variety of different fundraising initiatives and doing what they can to raise vital funds.”

So far we’ve seen everything from sponsored shaves and skydives, to Halloween fancy dress – there really is no end to their inspirational fundraising initiatives.”

As the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, Weston Park Hospital provides care for thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.
