Barnsley Football Club and Reds defender, Adam Jackson, has joined Team Weston Park to show his support for Weston Park Cancer Charity and to launch the up and coming Weston Park Cancer Charity Day at the Sheffield United match on Saturday 7th April 2018.

As part of the partnership Barnsley FC has with the Cancer Charity, the game has been designated a Weston Park Day. Members of the charity team and volunteers will be engaging with fans to raise awareness for the charity and the work it does in the Barnsley area.

Reds Defender, Adam Jackson is immensely proud to be sponsored by Weston Park and is fully committed to making ‘Weston Park Takeover Day’ a success.

Speaking of the partnership he commented; “Weston Park work tirelessly within our region to help those with life threatening cancer. As a charity, they rely heavily on public donations to operate and ultimately, change lives. It’s great that the Club are getting behind this and I hope the day is a massive success for all involved!”

As the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, Weston Park provides care for thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire including over 2,300 patients from Barnsley.

In the build up to the day Barnsley Football Club will be telling fans some of the ways they can get involved on the day as well as events in the future the charity has.

Darren Hayes, Business Development Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity, commented; “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Barnsley Football Club to highlight the work Weston Park does to support cancer patients in Barnsley. As a charity we are committed to fund things that the NHS is not able to and with the generous support of fans, we can continue to give people in our region access to the very best cancer care services.”

Money raised through the partnership will directly benefit local cancer patients through projects which provide practical help to those in need, emotional support to those in despair and enhanced care for those who need it most.
