M&S Meadowhall has raised over £40,000 in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity since 2016!

In 2016, Weston Park Cancer Charity was delighted to be chosen as Marks & Spencer Meadowhall’s Charity of the Year partner.

The partnership was a huge success, so much so that the initial one year partnership was extended by a further 12 months, with the final fundraising total reaching an incredible 43369.38

The partnership kicked off with bag packs, till point bucket collections, visits from Westie the Weston Park Charity mascot and the sale of Weston Park Cancer Charity branded merchandise, followed by many M&S supported events throughout the year.

M&S employees got right behind the partnership, too. They hosted regular staff raffles and went on to donate a number of gifts in kind, including furniture and confectionery.

On the COTY partnership, Business Development Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity, Darren Hayes said:

“What a fantastic effort and what a benchmark for the future.

“Our mission clearly captured the hearts and minds of all the staff at M&S, and their customers alike, to whom a huge thank you must go for all of the incredibly kind donations, volunteered time and many varied and fantastic fundraising efforts.

“The reward for us all is knowing that this partnership alone will help to create a better life for thousands of patients living with cancer across our region.”

Everything from ‘spend a penny’ campaigns to a Christmas Raffle followed, but when the warmer weather came around, teams of green fingered employees were excited to visit Weston Park Cancer Centre to transform both the hospital and Cancer Support Centre gardens, which were in desperate need of a makeover, so that patients receiving treatment are able to enjoy the outdoor space at a time when calm and tranquillity is needed the most.

The M&S sponsorship plaque is proudly displayed at the Weston Park Cancer Information and Support Centre in Sheffield.

Later that year, M&S Meadowhall welcomed Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday FC to launch the M&S charity Christmas event, and Toffee Music duo, Mike and Dave headed in store to collect and perform in support of the COTY partnership.

Finally, after an incredible two years of fundraising, the fantastic relationship between M&S Meadowhall and Weston Park Cancer Charity means that as this year alone, more people than ever before are set to face a cancer diagnosis, we will be there to provide practical help to those in need, emotional support to those in despair and enhanced care for those who need it most.

Thank you for your continued support.
