Our help is still here at Christmas, as it is all year round

 

If you or someone you know with cancer needs help, advice or support over the festive period you can call our helpline on
0114 553 3330 or take a look at our resources online.

 

This Christmas, of all years, we know how tough it will be for you, or someone you care about to be living with cancer. So we want you to know we’re still here to support you whether you need healthcare advice, welfare information, practical help or a listening ear. Our helpline is free, confidential and open to anyone living with cancer, not just Weston Park patients. If there’s anything you need – just call.

 

This year our opening hours around the festive period for our Cancer Support helpline are:

 

24th December – helpline 9am- 12:30pm

25th December – helpline closed

26th December – weekend helpline closed

27th December – weekend helpline closed

28th December – helpline closed

29th December – helpline 10am-3pm

30th December – helpline 10am -3pm

31st  December – helpline 10am – 12:30pm

1st   January – helpline closed

4th January – helpline re-opens Monday – Friday 9am-5pm

Description: Join us for a Christmas afternoon tea. We will be pulling virtual crackers, having a Christmas hat competition and be inviting a special guest (Santa) to give out pressies!

Talk to a healthcare professional

Description: Just call, whatever it is you need. Whether it’s advice from healthcare professionals on symptoms or treatments, knowing what you’re entitled to and applying for welfare benefits, or just wanting someone to talk to, we’re here. Description: At Weston Park Cancer Charity, we recognise the emotional impact of cancer and the challenges faced by those caring for friends and family with the disease.  We are here to support you through this difficult time. Yoga Nidra

 

Date: Thursday – 3rd, 10th, 17th December

Time: 3-4 pm

Title: Yoga Nidra

Description: Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation which you can practice while sitting in a comfortable chair. Calming the central nervous system, it reduces stress and anxiety and improves mood. You will take away techniques that will help you relax and sleep.

Talk to a Welfare Advisor

 

Date: Monday to Friday

Time: 9am to 5pm

Description: We can help with legal and financial advice including information about benefits, which you may be eligible for. We’re also offering hardship grants for people struggling with finances during the coronavirus outbreak.

Pre-Book

Mindfulness

 

Description: Mindfulness is an invaluable relaxation technique delivered and taught by a

specialist practitioner. The sessions focus on the development of coping strategies to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings. Description: Here at Weston Park Cancer Charity, our healthcare professionals not only support patients and their families throughout the difficult times from diagnosis, treatment and beyond, but also during the aftermath of losing a much-loved partner, family member or friend to cancer.
