General Cancer Support



The Doncaster Cancer Support Group

Practical help and support groups meeting on the 1st Wednesday of each month between 6.30 – 20.30pm in the Education Centre at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Armthorpe Road, Doncaster, DN2 5LT. Services provided include: Carers, Children whose relative has cancer, Children with cancer, Gay, Parents of Children or Young Adults with Cancer, Relatives, Young adults affected by cancer, Young adults with cancer, All cancers, Befriending, Bereavement Support, Cancer information materials, Cancer information materials in other languages, Complementary therapies, Counselling, Equipment loan, Information, Professional counselling, Support from Health Professionals and a telephone helpline.

Castleford and District Cancer Self Help Group

Practical help and support groups; meeting on the third Wednesday each month at 7.30pm; support; education; advice; nutrition; fundraising; social events; medical and nursing advice.

Living Well Information and Support Service (St Johns)

Provides an information service about cancer and specific long term conditions, as well as a counselling service for people with a life limiting illness and / or their families, within the hospice.



Aurora Wellbeing Centres

Support for local people and their families living with cancer. Anyone with a diagnosis receives a free package of support, wellbeing programmes and holistic & beauty treatments to help raise their self-esteem and confidence.



Meeting New Horizons 

Support for people with cancer; information and advice at home around a range of issues including benefits advice and signposting to other organisations and groups that could help and support them, their families and carers.



Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support

Provides free transport, by volunteer drivers, to Weston Park Hospital for cancer patients and their families.



Eve Merton Dreams Trust

A non profit organisation that donates the money it raises to help create a dream for a terminally or seriously ill cancer patient in the Doncaster area.



Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust

Providing help for people affected by Cancer to get back to full fitness; working with various charities and support networks.

Pontefract Breast Cancer Support Group

Practical help and support groups for anyone with breast cancer.




The Pituitary Foundation
Local support group, run by volunteers, who offer support and information to anyone affected by a pituitary condition living in their area.




Doncaster Royal Infirmary Prostate Cancer Support

Practical help and support groups; meeting every 2 months on first Friday e.g May, July etc. Befriending Counselling, Information and Support from Health Professionals.

Age UK Doncaster

Working with and for older people in Doncaster to make the most of later life, promoting the wellbeing of all older people and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.



DIAL Doncaster – Disability advisory service 

Provides an information and an advisory service, including welfare / benefits advice for people who live in the Doncaster area with a disability.



Doncaster Foodbank

Provides emergency food and support to local people. In many cases, you will need a third-party who is already supporting you (such as a GP, Social Worker, or tenancy support worker) to make arrangements on your behalf to access a food bank.



Doncaster Partnership for Carers

Provides emotional and practical support and information to carers in areas of education, finance, social care, health, leisure and training.



SARAG- South Yorkshire Asbestos Victim Support Group

Providing help, information, advice and support to people throughout South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire that are affected by asbestos related diseases.




Relationship counselling, sex therapy, children and young people’s counselling and family counselling.
