Healthcare professionals join the vaccine effort

Healthcare professionals at Weston Park Cancer Charity will join the vaccine effort.

Senior support nurse, Anne Crofts will be one of the first healthcare professionals at Weston Park Cancer Charity to administer the Covid-19 vaccine.

“We understand the impact shielding has had on people living with cancer and their carers so as nurses we felt it was really important to play our part and help the vaccination efforts. I’m really looking forward to being on the front-line again” says Anne.

Specialising in upper gastro-intestinal (upper GI) cancer, Anne has worked at the Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General before joining the team as a senior support nurse at Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Margaret Harrison, Head of Cancer Support Services at Weston Park Cancer Charity comments; “Covid-19 has resulted in healthcare services facing one of, if not the most challenging times in our history. Throughout the pandemic, we have adapted in several ways to support the NHS; from donating office space for virtual clinics, providing care packages to staff and now, we will join the vaccine effort, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team.”

So today, on World Cancer Day, we’re shining a light on the Weston Park Stars which keep our services running, even when our centre is closed. Thanks to you we can promise to be there for everyone affected by cancer, together at every step.
