Park Academy take to the skies!
Sheffield Park and Springs Academies go skydiving in support of Weston Park
Sheffield Park and Sheffield Springs Academies’ Executive Principal Craig Dillon and colleagues hit the heights when they went skydiving to raise funds for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
The fearless Mr Dillon began training for the parachute jump last year, supported by his colleagues Matt Wainwright and Martyn Hannan.
And last Saturday saw the culmination of their efforts, as the trio literally leapt into the unknown, taking off from Hibaldstow Airfield, to jump from an eye watering 15,000 feet, raising an incredible £1,762 in the process.
Commented Mr Dillon: “It’s something I’d never done before – incredibly daunting at first but an amazing experience and all for a very worthwhile cause – one which is very close to the academies’ collective heart. We’d like to thank everyone who has donated and supported us throughout.”
The skydive was just the latest in a long line of fundraising activities carried out in support of Weston Park, including bake sales and non-uniform days, which have helped to raise £9,627 for the charity.
Added Jade Hearsum, Community Fundraiser for Weston Park Cancer Charity:
“We are so proud of the team at Sheffield Park and Sheffield Springs Academies, as they have quite literally gone above and beyond to support the charity. Their dedication and perseverance to complete the jump shows how committed they are to making a difference to the lives of local cancer patients. It is an incredible challenge to take on and we are so grateful for their support, especially as another group from the school took on a Coast to Coast cycle just weeks before. You are all amazing!”
