Thornbridge Brewery raises a pint in memory of Jenny Walker

Hundreds of people across Sheffield came together to celebrate the life of a young mum, raising over £8,000 for Weston Park Cancer Charity in the process.

The fundraising drive, led by Thornbridge, saw the brewery’s Jaipur IPA renamed ‘JenPour’ after Jenny Walker, who sadly lost her fight with stage 4 bowel cancer last November.

Inspired by Jenny, one of Thornbridge’s first employees, the team set an initial target of £5,000, to support her inspirational fundraising, despite her devastating diagnosis.

However, it soon became clear that more could be raised, as hundreds of people across the country took to social media to celebrate the life of the mum-of-three.

Simon Webster, CEO of Thornbridge Brewery commented: “It’s been incredible to see so many people coming together to celebrate the life of Jenny and our thanks go to all our customers who have raised a pint in memory of such a wonderful, brave young woman.”

Catherine Rhone, Director at Weston Park Cancer Charity commented: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jenny’s family and the team at Thornbridge at this difficult time,”

“We have been overwhelmed by the messages of support which we have received in memory of Jenny and it’s clear to see that she was loved by so many.

“Despite this tragic outcome, the team at Thornbridge have inspired hundreds of people to raise a pint in Jenny’s memory, which will enable us to help many more cancer patients across the region.

“It’s a wonderful legacy and everyone involved should be exceptionally proud of the fantastic fundraising total.”

As the region’s only specialist cancer hospital, Weston Park Cancer Centre provides care to thousands of patients and their families across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.

Alongside donations from the sale of JenPour, Thornbridge hosted a charity raffle, which included prizes from Pitcher and Piano, Locksley Gin and tickets to watch Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday and encouraged people to make a donation online.

The participating pubs included The Greystones, Graze Inn, The Stags Head, The Bath Hotel, Hallamshire House, Coach and Horses, Cross Scythes and Brew Kitchen venues.
