WP2020 Launch Event
Weston Park 2020 for Business launched on Tuesday 1st March at Weston Park Hospital where representatives from interested businesses attended the event hosted by Charity Patron, Greg Dyke.
Attendees were given an insight into the work of the hospital and charity as well as more information on the brand new Weston Park 2020 for Business campaign.
Weston Park 2020 for Business is an opportunity for business leaders across the Sheffield City Region to engage with Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity to help achieve a mission of raising an additional £1million over the next 5 years.
The campaign will offer businesses the chance to make a small investment, which will ultimately make a huge impact on the way cancer services are delivered through Weston Park Hospital.
With the support and backing of Greg Dyke, the cancer charity are asking companies to make a minimum corporate donation of £1,000 per year for the next five years which will be invested in projects that will enable Weston Park Hospital to remain at the forefront of cancer care.
Speaking of the initiative Greg Dyke said, “As a business community we have the power to pull together and make a meaningful and lasting difference to cancer patients in this region.”
“For the benefit of cancer patients both now and in the future, I urge you to support this campaign.”
Weston Park Hospital is one of only a handful of specialist cancer hospitals in England and treats patients from all over South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and North Derbyshire – a population of almost 1.8million people.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for the hospital and exists to support the world-class cancer research and to improve the treatment and care for people living with cancer.
1 in 2 people born since the 1960’s will develop cancer in their lifetime, therefore the number of people requiring cancer services will continue to increase rapidly.
