Board of Trustees' Masterchef Gala Dinner
Our Board of Trustees invite you to a prestigious black tie masterchef gala dinner. Every pound raised will enable us to be there, at every step, for people facing cancer.
- Firth Court, The University of Sheffield
- Fri 15th July 2022, 6:00pm - 10:00pm
About the event
As trustees we are privileged to see the work of Weston Park Cancer Charity first-hand and hear about the impact this makes to thousands of people facing cancer, right here in our region.
At this event, you'll experience some of Sheffield's finest culinary tapestry and enjoy a wine pairing, or non-alcoholic cocktail, served with each course.
Dress: Black tie/evening wear
Today, one in two in people are diagnosed with cancer. And, our work has the potential to touch every family across the region as we will all be affected directly or indirectly by cancer in our lifetime.
By joining us at this black tie event, you'll help us raise vital funds so that we can continue to be there at every step for people and their families.
Together we can:
- fund life-saving research and clinical trials
- provide practical and emotional support to patients and families
- enhance the experience of treatment by improving wards and facilities.
Because when cancer changes everything, so can we.
About the menu
The evening's menu has been carefully curated by Executive Chef, Tracy Carr and her team. On the night, they will be joined by pastry chef Rob Hattersley, to create a truly bespoke and memorable fine dining experience.
Passionate about food and hospitality, Tracy Carr joined the University of Sheffield’s culinary team as a fresh faced 18 year old in 1978. Many years later Tracy leads the team as Executive Chef, with the team catering for everything from delivered catering, events, weddings, conferences and private dining.
Tracy was the first British Universities Chef to be nominated & accepted into the prestigious Master Chefs of Great Britain and this has given her many opportunities to work alongside other Master Chefs of Great Britain around the country and further afield. One such opportunity in 1997 took Tracy to Colombia where she worked in a five star hotel, training apprentice chefs in the art of preparing afternoon tea delicacies as well as preparing a banquet for 500 guests of the British Council.
Another proud moment was hosting a private lunch in Firth Court for Her Majesty the Queen, and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 2010, with an opportunity to showcase to the Royal Family all the local culinary hero’s that Yorkshire has to offer.
A keen competitor, Tracy led the first all female team to compete at the famous La Parade des Chefs at Hotelympia and the team managed to secure a prized silver medal at their first attempt , facing stiff competition from some of the top restaurants & hotels in the country.
Further team successes include six gold, four silver and three bronze medals at the TUCO Chefs Challenge competition, and Tracy has also twice made it to the semi finals of the National Chef of the Year, a competition seen as the Chef’s Oscars.
This year, our Mascot, Westie, is donning his Christmas Pyjamas in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity. Whether you are a school, a nursery, or a caring group –anyone can get involved in Westie’s Christmas Pyjama Day.
The 30th Percy Pud will take place on Sunday 3rd December 2023. The 2023 race is now full. There is no wait list, but people who can’t run often advertise places on social media in the run up to the race.
