Festival of Running 2026

Organised by Matlock Athletic Club since 1977; the Festival of Running consists of three running distances, all within Derbyshire's beautiful White Peak area.

Charity Places

Matlock Athletic Club have kindly donated two charity places per distance, which are:


- White Peak Marathon
- White Peak Half
- 'Down in a Shot' 10k

There is no entry fee, we would just politely ask you raise our minimum fundraising target; this figure will depend on the specific distance selected:

10k- £50

Half Marathon- £75

Marathon- £100

These places also include a bus transfer from Cromford Wharf to your run's specific start location and a race memento.

What you can expect:

The 'Festival of Running' event has been going since 1977 and provides you the opportunity to run through the tranquil Derbyshire White Peak area, experiencing no traffic, only beautiful scenery!

Routes:

Marathon- The traditional route from Thorpe to Cromford Meadows following first the Tissington Trail to Parsley Hay, then the High Peak Trail to Cromford

Half Marathon- Follows the High Peak Trail from Friden to Cromford over firm compacted limestone and cinder surfaces on former railway tracks

10k- No steep uphill stretches & a flat finish, provides the potential for fast times & PBs
