Groups and courses
Weston Park Cancer Charity offer a range of groups and courses, taking place on a regular basis at our locations and within the local community.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT for short, is a powerful scientifically based therapy proven to be successful in helping to improve the quality of life for people living with or recovering from cancer.
Attending these sessions will provide you with skills in dealing with difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively, so they have less impact on your daily life.
A key part of this therapy involves learning these skills in a therapist led session and practising them at home between sessions. These sessions are ideal for anyone struggling with anxiety, negative thoughts and fear of recurrence following cancer treatment.
ACT aims to help you:
- Handle difficult thoughts and feelings
- Focus on what matters most
- Take small steps forward
Our next ACT course starts on 3rd November and comprises of five sessions, taking place on Mondays at 10am-12pm at our Cancer Support Centre. To find out more, please get in touch:
- Drop by our Cancer Support Centre or any of the Big Purple Bus locations
