Hardship grants
Are you struggling financially? We can help with things like household bills, childcare costs, mortgage payments and travel costs associated with cancer treatment.
About our Hardship Grants
If you are living with cancer or caring for someone who is, you may be eligible for one of our hardship grants.
Our hardship grants can help towards essential living costs including:
- Help with an unexpected bill
- Bridging the gap before an initial benefit payment is issued
- Help towards the cost of specialist equipment e.g. a bed or wheelchair
- Essential or unexpected living costs e.g. food, specialist clothing etc.
- Travel costs for your cancer treatment
If you have not had an appointment with one of our welfare advisors within the last six months, we will book you an assessment of your situation to ensure you are claiming everything you are currently entitled to.
A member of our specialist support team will liaise with the welfare advisor following your assessment and, if eligible, complete the hardship grant application form with you, which will take around 15 minutes. Payments for successful applications will be made within 10 working days of the application being completed.
Our hardship grants are available for people living with cancer in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, even if you are not treated at Weston Park Cancer Centre; and for people who are Weston Park Cancer Centre patients, even if you do not live in the region.
Please speak to your clinical team about these grants and other options for financial support.
