About our large grants
Large grants (more than £1,500) are reviewed by the Grant-Giving Committee. The Committee is comprised of members with experience in the field, trustees, and patient representatives. The Committee make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, who make the final decision.
Large research grants will also undergo external peer review by experts from national and international institutions. Applicants are invited to suggest reviewers or to request specific reviewers not be contacted. Applicants are given the opportunity to respond to reviewer comments.
Examples include exploring the effect of oestrogen on breast cancer treatment, developing a blood test for lung cancer, predicting treatment response in ovarian cancer, and improving head and neck cancer response to radiotherapy.
