The Croke family reaches £303,000 fundraising milestone in memory of beloved wife and mum Bev

Earlier this summer, we joined the Croke family to celebrate their incredible £303,000 fundraising milestone.

Michael, Rachel, Sean, and Matthew Croke have been raising money since 2021 to honour the memory of much-missed mum and wife, Bev.

The family has reached this astounding total by hosting a series of star-studded ‘BB With Love’ concerts, gala dinners, golf days, and active challenge events.

We’re so grateful for the money they’ve raised, which will help us to fund groundbreaking cancer research, treatment enhancements, and support services.

Bev’s story

Bev Croke – known as BB to those closest to her – was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, and went through 18 months of treatment at Weston Park Cancer Centre.

Bev was known for her warm and generous nature. During treatment, she reached out to as many people impacted by cancer as she could, so that they did not feel alone.

After her sad passing in 2021, Michael, Rachel, Sean, and Matthew Croke founded ‘BB With Love’ to honour Bev’s legacy of kindness.

Since then, the family has worked tirelessly to raise vital funds for the one in two people in our region who will be diagnosed with cancer.

From golf days to gala dinners

West End leading man, Matthew Croke, and his professional dancer sister Rachel produced the fabulous ‘BB With Love Simply the Best’ concert series which was held at Sheffield City Hall.

Over the years, the event featured a whole host of West End performers and famous faces such as Gok Wan, Faye Tozer, The Nolans, Broadway-star Layton Williams, Corrie-star Hayley Tamaddon, and Strictly pros Janette Manrara and Kevin Clifton to name just a few.

It also celebrated local talent like the Sheffield Cancer Choir, of which Bev was a member, and also Rachel and Matthews’s dance school RMC Academy of Theatre Performance. The event series concluded last year, with the amazing ‘Simply the Best: The Final Ovation 2025’.

Alongside their concerts, the Crokes have held glamorous gala dinners with dancing and music aplenty to raise further funds.

Bev’s son Sean kicked off the family’s 2026 fundraising efforts by taking on the Sheffield Half Marathon in March.

Then in May, the Crokes hosted the fourth instalment of their annual charity golf day. Participants teed off from Hallamshire Golf Club and raised £16,000 – which took the family’s fundraising total over £300,000!

Rachel Guest, Bev’s daughter, said:

“Mum was a real-life superwoman – a truly amazing mum, a loving nanna, a wonderful friend to many, and an incredible wife to our dad. We miss her so much every day.

“With her beautiful heart, she was selfless, generous and forever giving – that’s what made her so truly special.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have raised £303,000 for Weston Park Cancer Charity, which offers such important services to people and families going through cancer.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported our events over the years and helped us to reach this total!”
