Introducing our newest Trustee – Melinda Schofield!

Melinda joins our Board of Trustees to ‘be another voice’ for Weston Park Cancer Charity and help us deliver our ambitious, exciting new strategy.

With 25 years’ experience in the advertising and media industry, Melinda is currently Regional Sales Director for Bauer Media Yorkshire, and has joined our Board of Trustees to help us work to be there, together at every step, for the one in two people facing cancer in our region.

She has supported Weston Park Cancer Charity for a number of years, and decided to apply to join our Board of Trustees to further help support people living with and beyond cancer, and their loved ones, in our region.

“I have family and friends who have all been supported by Weston Park - both the hospital and the charity - but I also see daily the work which the team does to help an area that is so close to people’s hearts,” said Melinda.

“Given that one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer, more help is clearly needed, meaning Weston Park Cancer Charity and the support we can provide for people in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire is more important than ever before.”

As our newest Trustee, Melinda is keen to help us do even more to provide vital support, enhance treatment experiences and enable vital cancer research – which in turn, gets us one step closer to ‘eradicating’ the disease.

“This is a team of people who I have known for many years, who are totally committed to making a difference,” said Melinda.

“I’m excited to be another voice, to be able to leverage further support and guidance, and to talk more about the amazing work Weston Park does for so many people.

“I’ve supported events for many years and I’ve been blessed to meet many people who the Charity has been there for. There is no better feeling in the world than meeting someone who the Charity has helped.

“My aims are to keep the strong and positive message going aboutthe fantastic work which the team does; to shout louder and prouder to get the message out more; to give whatever support and guidance is needed to the team; and to reach our fundraising goals in order to be there, together at every step, for more people that need it.”

Did you know? You currently have the opportunity to follow in Melinda’s footsteps and join our Board of Trustees!

Our brilliant Board of Trustees is currently drawn from all walks of life, including business, finance, the NHS and third sector. We are currently recruiting for two voluntary Trustee positions to help us make a difference for the one in two people facing cancer in our region.

We would love to hear from you if you want to help people affected by cancer in this region and can bring experience to support, challenge and help our executive management team deliver our ambitious strategy.
