Saturday 24th February saw us takeover Oakwell for their game against Derby County. The sun was shining as our volunteers and team took their places around the stadium to collect donations from the generous football fans.
A big thank you to our volunteers
A huge thank you to our volunteers who spent their Saturday afternoon with us at Oakwell, supporting our fundraising efforts. Many of our volunteers then enjoyed the game with their free ticket, a fantastic perk of volunteering with us at one of our #TogetherAtEveryStep days.
If you are interested in volunteering with us in the future, please contact the team volunteering@wpcancercharity.org.uk.
Charity walkers complete their 14-mile challenge
Did you spot our charity walkers? Carl Mellor, long-term fundraiser for Weston Park Cancer Charity, and his fellow walkers completed their impressive 14-mile challenge in around five hours. The team set off from our Cancer Support Centre in Sheffield at 8am and reached the finish line of Oakwell Stadium to a cheering crowd of supporters.
They have reached their £500 fundraising target but it’s not too late to donate, their Just Giving page is still open.
From everyone at Weston Park Cancer Charity, a huge well done and thank you to all the walkers!
Bidding is officially open for our limited-edition Barnsley FC shirts
Before kick-off, the pitch turned purple as the Barnsley players wore our limited-edition shirts for their warm-up. We have had some fantastic feedback about the shirts and are pleased to confirm they are now up for auction. All winning bidders will be able to choose a personal message from the player to go alongside the signing on the shirt.
Who’s your favourite player? Whether it’s captain, Jordan Williams, or match-hero Adam Phillips, you can now place your bids to get your hands on one of the exclusive shirts. Visit the auction page here. Best of luck bidders!
Please note: the auction will close at 12pm (midday) on Wednesday 20th March. The winning bidder for each shirt will be contacted by Weston Park Cancer Charity after the above date, regarding the message and collection/delivery.
We look forward to sharing the grand total raised for Weston Park Cancer Charity from our Barnsley FC takeover day in the coming weeks.
