Weston Park Cancer Charity launches first ever Make a Will Month
This February, supporters can write their Will with the charity’s legal partners in exchange for a suggested minimum donation.
We’re excited to share that this February will be Weston Park Cancer Charity’s first ever Make a Will Month.
Throughout the month, supporters will be able to get expert help with writing their Will with one of our legal partners.
Participating solicitors are waiving their usual fees and asking instead for a donation to be made to Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Why should I write a Will?
By writing a Will, you can ensure that your wishes are honoured and those closest to you are cared for. This vital document can provide you with peace of mind, and help to avoid unwanted complications for your family further down the line.
Make a Will Month is a fantastic way to get your affairs in order for a reduced cost, while making an invaluable contribution to Weston Park Cancer Charity’s work.
How can I take part in Make a Will Month?
Supporters can write their Will with Best Solicitors, BRM, Ison Harrison Solicitors, Taylor Bracewell Solicitors and Legal Studios Solicitors.
These solicitors are based in locations throughout the region and are on hand to make the Will-writing process as simple and quick as possible. Some of our legal partners are offering in-person or online appointments.
Suggested minimum donations start at:
- £100 for a single Will (for one person)*
- £190 for a mirror Will (for a couple)*
These suggested minimum donations are lower than the average cost of writing a Will, with savings of up to £200 for a single Will, and every pound given will help us to support local people and families facing cancer.
The suggested minimum donation for a single Will for example, could pay for five bra vouchers – which help people living with breast cancer to purchase the sturdy, suitable bras required for radiotherapy.
A donation of £190 would cover the cost of fuel for all three routes on our transport service for approximately four days. This would help around 240 patients to access vital cancer treatment and appointments.
Melissa Erwin, Legacy & In Memory Fundraising Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity said:
“Writing a Will can feel like an intimidating task, but it doesn’t have to be.
“During Make a Will Month, our legal partners can support you through every step of the Will-writing process, making it easier than ever to organise your financial affairs.
“Every Will written during Make a Will month will help us to provide the very best care to people going through cancer treatment – now, and in the years to come.”
Those taking part in our Make a Will month also have the option of a leaving a gift to Weston Park Cancer Charity in their Will – although there is no obligation to do so. These gifts help us to provide practical, emotional, and financial assistance to people when they need it most.
Our legal partners will be offering a limited number of Will-writing sessions throughout February.
*Suggested donations listed are for simple Wills. For more complex Wills, additional costs can be discussed with your chosen solicitor at the time of your appointment.
