Having previously driven for Nenna Kind before the charity’s merger with Weston Park Cancer Charity, I was delighted to be back driving again in April 2021 after all services were closed due to the pandemic. In fact, I was the last person to drive for Nenna Kind before the pandemic stuck.

I became a volunteer driver as I’ve been a patient at Weston Park previously, so I fully appreciate the work of everybody there. I wanted to give something back to help others who may not be as fortunate as me.

I volunteer for Weston Park Cancer Charity’s transport service because I have both friends and family that have been treated at Weston Park. It’s a wonderful facility and it’s nice to be able to offer some support to my local community.

Since partial retirement, I have always wished to utilise some of my time volunteering. As I have a close connection, through my family, to cancer services and charities, I felt it’d be great to use this time for Weston Park Cancer Charity.

I enjoy helping and supporting people, giving rather than taking. I have family members who have gone through cancer and I have empathy for the massive impact it has on everyone involved and their families.
