Buddy Service

Our Buddy Service connects you with someone who has also been affected by cancer for one-to-one informal support.

What is it?

Our Buddy Service connects you with someone who has also been affected by cancer for one-to-one informal support. Buddies provide a safe, judgement-free space to talk about your experiences and feelings with someone who understands.

Who is it for?

The service is for anyone 18+ who has been affected by cancer, including:

  • People who have had a cancer diagnosis
  • Their carers, family or friends
  • People bereaved by cancer

“Talking to a Buddy changed everything for me, it gave me hope and I realised I don’t have to face it alone”

Gary, former patient and current volunteer

What are the benefits?

People often find talking to someone who has lived experience more supportive and reassuring.

  • Talk openly without worrying about someone else’s feelings
  • Feeling less alone
  • Having time to ask questions and explore your feelings
  • Hearing about someone else’s story, decisions and experiences
  • Having a place to vent or to just chat
