Weston Park Cancer Charity scoops up TWO awards at The Sheffield Business Awards
The charity won the Community Impact Award and the People's Choice Award for the Big Purple Bus.
Last week, Weston Park Cancer Charity was delighted to win awards for Community Impact and People's Choice at The Sheffield Business Awards.
The charity won its first award of the night – the Community Impact Award – for its Big Purple Bus service.
This much-coveted accolade, which is sponsored by Westfield Health, celebrates initiatives that promote social inclusion, improve quality of life, and make a real difference to local people.
The Big Purple Bus project brings Weston Park Cancer Charity’s support services directly into the heart of communities, ensuring people across the region have equal access to cancer advice and information.
The Big Purple Bus project connected with over 7,000 individuals in its first year, the service can now be accessed in 13 locations and regularly appears at the charity’s fundraising events.
Emma Clarke, CEO of Weston Park Cancer Charity, said:
“It was an absolute honour to win the Community Impact Award for our Big Purple Bus project.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Healthcare Professionals and Advisors on board our buses who provide such a warm and friendly service. We’re also incredibly grateful to the Big Purple Bus volunteers and drivers who give up their time for free. This award is a reflection of your passion, talent, and hard work.
“For one in two of us, cancer will change everything. But by breaking down barriers to healthcare we can help even more people to live well – with and beyond cancer.”
The charity won its second award of the night – the People's Choice Award - voted for by attendees on the night.
As well as winning the two awards, the charity was also nominated for the Brand Campaign of the Year Award for its ‘see it. treat it.’ appeal. This ambitious campaign seeks to raise £1.85m for a revolutionary MRI simulator for Weston Park Cancer Centre.
Weston Park Cancer Charity is there, at every step, for people across the region who have been impacted by cancer. The charity provides life-changing support services, enhances treatments and funds vital cancer research.
